AP's Run to the Roses: Mubtaahij No. 8; Dortmund still No. 1

(AP) -- A horse owned by a Sheikh, trained by a South African, ridden by a Frenchman and bred by Dunmore Stud in Ireland is headed to the Kentucky Derby. His name: Mubtaahij.

The 3-year-old colt ran away with the UAE Derby over the weekend and into the No. 8 spot in the AP's latest Run to the Roses Top 10 rankings. Minutes after the race, trainer Mike De Kock declared his intentions. (MORE)

California Chrome heads to Britain, to race at Royal Ascot

ASCOT, England (AP) Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner California Chrome is heading to England after being confirmed as a runner in the prestigious Royal Ascot meeting in June.

The 4-year-old American colt was second to Prince Bishop in the Dubai World Cup, the world's richest horse race, on Saturday and will be taken directly to Britain as early as next week. (MORE)

Sky Kingdom wins Tokyo City Cup at Santa Anita

ARCADIA, Calif. (AP) Sky Kingdom won the $100,000 Tokyo City Cup for the second time for Hall of Fame trainer Bob Baffert on Saturday at Santa Anita.

Ridden by Martin Garcia, Sky Kingdom won by 5 3/4 lengths, running 1 1/2 miles in 2:28.90 and paying $7.60, $4.80 and $2.60. The 6-year-old won the race in 2013. He had been idle since losing on Oct. 31. (MORE)

Prince Bishop wins Dubai World Cup, California Chrome 2nd

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) Prince Bishop pulled away from favorite California Chrome on the home straight and won the $10 million Dubai World Cup by 2 3/4 lengths at Meydan Racecourse on Saturday.

Starting from the inside post, jockey William Buick rode Prince Bishop to his first victory on dirt. It was the fourth attempt for the 8-year-old horse in the world's richest race. (MORE)
