ADELAIDE, Australia (AP) Uruguayan midfielder Francisco Usucar has left Adelaide United after being told his place in the A-League club could not be guaranteed for next season.
The team said Thursday the 26-year-old, Montevideo-born Usucar will play in Ecuador after a mutual agreement with coach John Kosmina.
A former member of the Uruguay under-17 and under-20 national teams, he joined Adelaide in January last year and played 34 games for the club.
Usucar said in a statement that when Kosmina told him his status was uncertain for next season, he had to be concerned with his "future and ... career, so when an offer came from Ecuador which was good for me, I made the decision to go."
