(TSX / STATS) -- Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Radko Gudas received a 10-game suspension and Nashville Predators forward Austin Watson was handed a two-game ban in punishments announced by the National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety on Sunday night.

Gudas' suspension was for slashing Jets forward Mathieu Perreault in Winnipeg on Thursday. Gudas was assessed a major penalty and game misconduct for slashing when the incident occurred at 9:50 of the first period.

"He got the meaty part of the neck. It could have been worse, I guess," Perreault told the Courier Post of Cherry Hill, N.J. "He apologized in the penalty box, but when you look at the replay, it looks like he did it on purpose. It wasn't an accident. He's been known for doing stuff like that, so I certainly don't appreciate it."
