(TSX / STATS) -- The Minnesota Wild agreed to terms on a two-year contract extension with captain Mikko Koivu on Monday.

The deal for the 34-year-old center is worth $11 million, Wild general manager Cliff Fletcher said in a statement. He is now under contract through 2019-20.

Koivu has played all 12 of his NHL seasons with Minnesota after the club drafted him with the No. 6 overall pick in 2001. He had 18 goals and 40 assists last season for his highest point total since 2010-11, and he compiled a career-best plus-27 rating.
