Lambie, Steyn to miss Super 15 playoff
BRISBANE, Australia (AP) Springboks Patrick Lambie and Frans Steyn have been ruled out of Saturday's Super 15 rugby quarterfinal between the Durban-based Sharks and defending champions Queensland Reds.
Flyhalf Lambie aggravated an ankle injury during the Sharks' 34-14 win over the Cheetahs on the weekend that clinched their place in the playoffs.
Steyn has been ruled ineligible for post-season matches because he was signed by the Sharks after the April 1 transfer deadline.
Lock Pieter-Steph du Toit also has an ankle injury and was omitted from the 24-man squad named by the Sharks on Sunday to travel to Brisbane for the quarterfinal.
Lock Steven Sykes and prop Tendai Mtawarira have both been passed fit after missing the match against the Cheetahs.
