Murdoch has qualified for his third straight Olympics, but he's still seeking his first medal. His team was a disappointment with a 5-4 record in group play in 2010, failing to even reach the medal round after losing 7-6 to Sweden's Niklas Edin in the tiebreaker match. That was forced after Murdoch lost 9-5 to Norway, skipped by Thomas Ulsrud, in the final match. Murdoch, though, may have gotten some satisfaction in beating the United States 4-2 in 2010 after losing 8-6 to the Americans in the bronze medal match four years earlier. While Olympic success with Great Britain has eluded him, Murdoch has been a force for Scotland at the world and European championships. He's skipped teams to medals in six of the past nine world championships, winning gold in 2009 and '06. He settled for bronze in 2013, beating Denmark and skip Rasmus Stjerne after falling to Brad Jacobs' Canada in the semifinals following a defeat to Edin in the opening playoff round. The result was disappointing after Murdoch's team had a tournament-best 8-3 record in group play. However, two of those losses came to Ulsrud and Jacobs. Murdoch's continental tournament success includes reaching the podium six times, winning gold in 2008, '07 and '03.
