The 2014 Games could prove to be especially memorable for Jacobsen, who is ranked second in the FIS overall standings and second in distance. She delivered a terrific performance in the Tour de Ski, finishing just 20.4 seconds behind first-place winner Therese Johaug. Heidi Weng came in third as Norway became the first country to earn all three podium places in the Tour. Jacobsen has some Olympic experience under her belt after finishing seventh in the sprint classic in Vancouver. She is projected by The Associated Press to win silver in the 30-km freestyle in Sochi, with fellow Norwegian Marit Bjoergen predicted to take the gold. Jacobsen has reached the podium four times in 11 world championship races, including a victory in a sprint classic in 2007. Her resume also includes seven World Cup gold medals, three individual. She most recently helped her team to a first-place finish in the 4x5 relay in February 2012.
